Camera and Wildlife Basic Photography Course

Unlock the magic in your camera, get out of auto mode and learn useful techniques and skills to help you get the shots you are after with our workshop! Then, use what you have learnt out and about in the zoo and capture the gorgeous animals with your newfound photography skills!

The workshops are for beginner/enthusiast level photographers, who have any type of camera (compact/bridge/DSLR) and want to learn more about them and what everything does and with the jargon explained in a nice and easy to understand manner. The workshops will consist of a morning session indoors and a wonderful afternoon around the zoo putting what you have learned into practice.

James, a local wildlife and nature photographer who also has worked in portraiture, will be leading the class using his years of knowledge and experience! His passion and enthusiasm for nature is contagious and he will also provide participants with an insight into the everyday conservation of wildlife around you.

What’s Included?

This exciting workshop is packed full of useful tips, that can be used when capturing our amazing animals, from the meerkats to the lemurs as well as spending the day with wildlife photographer James Bradley who has an endless fountain of photography knowledge!

The workshop will combine a mixture of classroom theory and a practical session out and about in the zoo. Your admission into the zoo is included for the full day; you will receive expert advice and tuition on your camera as well as a meal voucher to spend towards your lunch in Sonny’s Cafe at the zoo.

Itinerary

Workshops start at 10 am and end at 3:30 pm, this includes a 30-minute break for lunch at 12:00. We ask everyone attending the workshop to be at the zoo 15 minutes beforehand. The meeting place will be at the main zoo reception.

Do I need to pre-book this workshop?

All participants must pre-book their place in the workshop. Places are limited on a first come, first serve basis.

How many people will be taking part in the workshop?

There will be a maximum of 8 people in any one session.

What if it is raining?

There are indoor enclosures, however we recommend bringing appropriate waterproof clothing and footwear. Please also ensure your camera and equipment is protected.

What should I wear?

Suitable outdoor clothing is recommended along with waterproofs if necessary!

Can I bring a guest?

This workshop is not designed for spectators. Family members are more than welcome to come to the park as guests paying normal admission prices but are not able to follow the photography group around the park.

Are there any age restrictions?

These workshops are aimed at people who are 16 and over who are beginner to intermediate photography enthusiasts.

Any other restrictions?

Participants need to be of reasonable fitness to take part in the workshop. Regrettably, this workshop is not suitable for pregnant women.
