We are thrilled to welcome Sally, the Linne's two-toed sloth, to her new home here at Northumberland Zoo. 7 year old Sally has officially moved into a specially designed indoor habitat, the Rainforest Lookout, which she will be sharing with the white-faced saki monkeys, Goeldi’s monkeys, pygmy marmosets, and Azara's agouti.

“Sloths like Sally are endlessly fascinating,” said Lucy Edwards, Curator at Northumberland Zoo. “Despite being slow, they only sleep around 8-10 hours a day, digest food very very slowly, and can even turn their heads almost all the way around thanks to their unusual anatomy.”
"Sally is settling in well, she has had a lot to take in so far. The Rainforest Lookout habitat is large, so she's still exploring new areas every day. She's also been the talk of the town with the rest of the primates who live in that habitat as they have watched her with interest for the past week."
Come and visit Sally and discover why sometimes, slow and steady really is the most fascinating way to live!
